Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton have called it quits, PEOPLE confirms.
“Josh and I did break up,” Stanton, 26, told PEOPLE at The Bachelor Charity Premiere Party at Sycamore Tavern in Los Angeles on Monday.
“I know there’s been a lot of speculation about our relationship and
to be honest, I think some people thought I was avoiding it,” she
continued. “I think it’s good to set the record straight and tell
everyone that we’re not together anymore. I just didn’t really know how
to go about it.”
Murray, 32, and Stanton met while starring as contestants on Bachelor in Paradise during the summer of 2016.
The two hit it off almost instantly, quickly becoming one of the
season’s most solid couples, and went public with their engagement
following the season finale of Bachelor in Paradise on Sept. 6 — but their road to engagement wasn’t always smooth.
“There was a lot of different reasons [we called off our
engagement],” Stanton said. “At the end of the day, we were just two
very different people. I think there are some things when you love
someone you can work on and try to fix things, and then there are some
things you just can’t fix. I think it got to that point where we just
knew it wasn’t going to work.”

Back to paradise? Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton experienced a bumpy end to 2016, but the Bachelor in Paradise alums were spotted together on Wednesday, December 28, just a few weeks after multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the pair had split, and days before they are set to appear together on a new Bachelor special.

with a fan at a Free People clothing store in the Lenox Square mall in
his hometown of Atlanta on December 28. The fan's brother, JohnMark
Conklin, posted the photo to Twitter.
A source tells Us that
the Bachelor Nation faves seemed relaxed and were discussing their New
Year's Eve plans, although it was unclear if they would be ringing in
2017 together.
The pair have not addressed their rumored split but are likely to give
an update on their romance when they appear together on the new special The Bachelor: Countdown to Nick, airing on ABC on Sunday, January 1, a day before Nick Viall's season 21 premiere. Other Bachelor Nation couples taking part in the special include Sean and Catherine Lowe, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth, and Paradise season 3 lovebirds Carly Waddell and Evan Bass.

She thought she'd finally found her happily ever after, but last year, Andi Dorfman's fairy tale dream came crashing down.
"I thought I'd be alone forever," the former Bachelorette tells PEOPLE
of her breakup with Josh Murray. The 29-year-old author of It's Not Okay
was engaged to the 31-year-old former baseball player on the season
finale of the show. Eight months later, the relationship was over.
"We all have red flags in our relationships that we don't see,"
says Dorfman. "Looking back and seeing those red flags was very
cathartic for me. I realized our relationship wasn't the highlight of my
life like I thought it was. So I took it off the pedestal and realized
all was not lost."
Once she did, "I was disgusted with myself for what I put up with," says
Dorfman. "I was a strong, independent woman and I allowed [Josh] to be
[emotionally abusive]. Now, I know I don't want someone jealous or
controlling. I know what won't make me happy in [the future]."
Moving on, "I've let go of the hatred and the bitter feelings," says
Dorfman. "But I wasted my first engagement and that will always stick
with me."
Still, "I survived," she says. "It hasn't been the easiest ride, but I'm happy."
